So I thought I’d try and share an update on where we’re at with certain topics I’ve discussed here…

The Mortgage – the State and the Non-Profit came through for us – we were awarded a 5-Month Period of Payments on the Mortgage, we’ll pick back up in January 2017.  That being said I am seriously scared to death on what’s going to happen come January.  The non-profit contact did tell us that we can apply for some sort of “gap” funds…whatever that is should our situation not change.

My Job – I was hired on Part-Time with a Southern Retail Department Store – initially I was in the Fine Jewelry Department, but the Part-Time hours just weren’t enough.  So after discussing it with the counter manager we put my name into the pot to move into the Ready-to-Wear Women’s Clothing Department, FULL-TIME! I actually got my benefits packet in the mail today,  WooHoo!

With that being said – Insurance – We applied for Insurance through DSS sometime early last month for my husband and I – and we found out today that we were approved, WooHoo!! So I might hold off on enrolling in benefits through work (medical at least for now) to conserve some funds.

We also started the process for my husband’s Disability – the paperwork has been sent back in and he’s had his physical – they called today to clarify some things and then stated more paperwork is headed our way for him to complete – we really NEED this Miracle.  So hoping they approve him so we can get some stability – though 9 times out of 10 the applicants are denied the first go-round…we have until January…ugh

The other item we need to decide on is Silver…she’s really more than we can afford each month with her $540.00 payment – $273.00/mos insurance – and Gas…so we’re trying to determine what we’re going to do with her.  As much as it would break my heart to part with her, I can’t seem to see us being able to continue to pay for her…

The other upswing in our household is that about two weeks ago we adopted a new baby girl for my Son – I took him to PetsMart and we found him a new baby, we welcomed Josina (now named Sakura) into our house – she’s a four month old little lady whose just made herself to home!

And yes I am still cruising through my Cook/Bake from Scratch journey!  More of that to come!

So where are with with the modification…as of right now STUCK…what I mean is simple, Citi sent us a letter stating they can’t approve us for a general modification due to our financial documents we’d never be able to re-pay the arrears, which are in the 5-Figures right now…yes we’re that far behind guys…and that we can be approved/set-up for a FHA Making Home Affordable something or other, but we’re waiting for a letter to arrive for that – when my hubby called last week or the week before about it our “counselor” told us that the letter hadn’t even been sent – there was a deadline date of 10-09-14 on the original letter…so where does that leave us? Currently in limbo.  I’ve been looking at rentals in our area, but there’s nothing we can reasonably afford that’ll accept our animals – and um yeah Giving them up is JUST NOT an Option! We’re not that kind of family…we’ll keep looking until we find somewhere where we can take them all (all SIX of them!) – the only remotely decent thing I’ve found is a 4-Bedroom house out in  town called Delco, which is about 30-Mins West of where we are currently located and about 45-Mins from where I work…while not ideal, if push came to shove that would be an option…then again I am willing to bet it’s been rented by now – so we keep our eyes out and see what life brings our way…

So what else?

Well a thought occurred to me over the weekend, and why I didn’t think of this sooner I’ll never know – but there’s all this news of pushing the minimum wage rate to $15.00/hour – which to me seems a bit extreme, but whatever – it finally dawned on me that $15.00/hour is MY SALARY! So if this minimum wage thing passes I’ll basically be making Minimum Wage…uh Hells NO! Ugh seriously need to fix this…YES I’ve been looking for work…NO I haven’t had a single interview…NO I have zero clue why…I am curious though as to what in the world we’re being set-up for.  My hubby just started working as a groomer (he’s still in his 8-Week 100-Dog Training Period) and will be making more money, but why in the world is it that I am “stuck” – I have a few ideas lined up in my head, it’s just a matter of making them become reality…so with that I am going to add in the below.

Now for anyone who has stuck around my blogs for any length of time will know that I am a TOTAL sucker for all things Nickelback – and when I heard they were releasing a new album, well you know I have been all over that…however, as per usual Chad’s got a message to share be it Political (as is evidenced in the 1st single off the album, Edge of a Revolution) or motivational, as is the case with the below, ‘What are You Waiting for?’ I hear this and think to myself that it’s time to move forward and time to get my arse moving!

So then this all begs the question of Where in the World did things go askew for me??? My financial life has been a royal friggin roller coaster since I moved out of my parents house back in the summer of 2000…what is it that I am missing? I have a wonderful husband whom I adore, two beautiful children and yet we continue to struggle – when are we going to get our release? When are we going to finally be in a settled situation?  Ugh frustration is running rampant here, can’t you tell?

I am not usually one to point things out – but my 35th Birthday was last Friday the 30th and I have to say it came and went with very little fanfare! I loved coming into work and finding all of the Birthday Greetings on my Facebook Timeline, that always makes me feel so very loved! Texts and Emails from family just added to it…plus my hubby waking me up minutes after Midnight on the 30th to wish me Happy Birthday! So yes to feel loved is total awesomeness!  Add to it the necklace and movie (The Host) my hubby got me I am that much more loved….**ok collective awwwww!!**  We didn’t do much of anything, our usual Friday night dinner, run to Target for misc. Groceries to get us through Sat morning, go home get the kiddos ready for bed and crash ourselves – but I guess this birthday girl had too much celebrating as she feel asleep at 8:45! WHAT?!?! LOL!!!  It gets better ya’ll, I slept until 10:30 Sat Morning!

Guess all of that came on because I worked 1/2 a day that day (due to the Holiday weekend my office closed at 2 – but the best part was I got to key a full 8hr. work day!! Oh YEAH! The only time boss lady lets us do that!) and then went home and picked up Nixon to take him to the Vet for his Rabies shot…poor thing did NOT like that AT ALL! He’s very people shy to begin with and then add to it someone who wants to check him over and then stick him with a needle, um yeah he wasn’t having any of that – BUT he did behave so I can’t rightfully complain! All in all with the visit, rabies shot and 3yr license he came out for less than $54! So Woop Woop!

Nixon

This my baby! Nixon – he’s 9 yrs old, a Rottie – Shepard Mix and a Big Ole Teddy Bear!

Ok so with that come and gone we then began getting ready for my hubby’s parents’ visit on Sunday, that meant more grocery shopping, cleaning, scrubbing and organizing around the house – in a nut shell running around like veritable mad men! But it all got done and the house was immaculate prior to their arrival in time for dinner Sunday night!

Alright so with that, and the funds from my hubby’s employer we decided to go back to our original bi-weekly bill pay schedule as it was getting too tedious to pay out the bills and balance the check book each week, so here’s the 1st Week on where I just hold onto funds until this coming Friday to pay bills with.

And with the breakdown in general – I budgeted for Nixon’s visit to the Vet so it wasn’t a “Surprise” expense (as the county sends out a notice stating the Rabies is due and a fine will be levied if you don’t get the animal vaccinated), and because we’re back in school Brigades has gone down by $10/week! Yeah! $40/mos back into my pocket!  And due to Labor Day OT was closed so we skipped this week’s appointment and will just go next Monday the 9th.

So that’s where we are for now – we didn’t do anything over the top for Labor Day – just walked around downtown and then cruised the mall for a bit, all in all we spent $6 for drinks, that was it!

Anybody else do anything fun and/or exciting for Labor Day?
