So my boss calls me into her office for an update meeting this morning….I knew, somehow I just knew…yup they’ve hired someone.  Well THAT was quick…

My replacement starts 9/14

She’ll be in the Tampa office for that week getting indoctrinated to the company

Then she’ll be here in Wilmington the week of the 21st so I can train her

My last day is 10/2

Oh gee Thanks…

They’ve offered me a $1,000 retention bonus to stay on and train her on top of my severance package…

Can I just puke now?

I came into work in a decent mood and that just tossed out like the garbage I’m being treated like…

Hubby said “well at least you have a date now and the money will help” yeah but it doesn’t un-sour my mood…a raging headache has settled in and I just want to tell the company to go F*ck themselves I’m outta here…ugh but we need the money.

He also said that this might be a good thing because I’ve been miserable at my job for a long time – and he’s right I do hate my job and the company is less than stellar as far as I’m concerned, BUT we need the money, especially with him being unemployed…

So I am thinking we’re probably MD bound permanently after the holidays…we’ll see…I hate that idea I really do, while I love my family and l do enjoy visiting with them, the very idea of returning to MD just makes my skin crawl…ugh…

Not sure what we’re going to do quite yet…Hubby’s a bit more optimistic than I am…

Ok I’m gonna go crawl under a rock now and puke!

Good Evening Everyone!

It’s been roughly (3) Months since I last checked-in and WOW things have changed some – some for the good and some staying where they are…

Our tax return lasted us about 2.5 months this year – 90% of which was spent paying bills – we dedicated a large portion of it to help pay the mortgage, car payment, insurance, utilities, etc and it turned out to be a blessing for sure! Those months right after Christmas always tend to be a problem for us, but having the tax refund really helped smooth the road from that point forward.  The remaining 10% we spent on shopping – we took about $600 and hit Myrtle Beach, SC for a day of Outlet Shopping, cruising Broadway at the beach and then dinner at Red Lobster! It was a fun-filled day that we all needed!  And the rest went to little purchases here and there – movies, books, other clothing items, food, etc.

For the good, and I mentioned this on my NCReaderBlog the other day – I have taken on a 2nd job, part-time, working for an Indie Author named, Heather Hildenbrand, author of such books as ImitationDevitation, and the Dirty Blood Series, doing her administrative work – helping her with blog tours, cover reveals, working on her newsletter as she needs me do and just anything and everything she needs help with! The hours fluctuate based on her needs and schedule, but I love it! She’s an amazingly sweet lady who is just very cool!  I found this job via her Street Team facebook page and applied as soon as it hit my newsfeed – she was like whiplashed I hit her so fast w/my inquiry and resume LOL!!  This position adds an extra $40 – $80/month to our budget or $10.00/hr as her needs require, and has helped with some smaller expenses as they’ve come up – stuff like oil changes for the new van, or something as simple as putting gas in the car or paying for emergency groceries!

Another, for the good change as been a gym change for me – if you all remember roughly 15-Months ago I joined Planet Fitness to help with my weight loss goals – well I reached my goal weight and was looking to move more into weight lifting and decided to give the New Rules of Lifting for Women program a try – well to do the program in full I really needed more weight room flexibility so after a lot of soul searching I decided to leave PF and joined Gold’s Gym – and I also took on a personal training twice a month to help me reach my goals.  The costs of which were a $200.00 enrollment fee + $19.99 month for the membership and then $50.00/month for my PT – who has been well worth the expense! She’s just amazing – she’s a powerlifter and has been working with me to increase the weight I use while guiding me with proper form! I’ve been a member of Gold’s now for about a month and I feel so much more at home than I ever did at PF! Probably because I know my way around the weight room more 😉

Otherwise, we’re remaining static – the last restructure we did with Citi went through and as soon as the paperwork was returned to them they sold our loan to Midland Mortgage – who is just now receiving the paperwork from Citi – oy what a ride that’s been – but I spoke with them yesterday and all is good – our credit hasn’t been affected by the changeover and we’re paying the payments as scheduled, so we’re good!

Life continues to move forward and we’re just taking things one day at a time.

I am not going into too much detail, but I am going to share a series of Facebook posts – our Van our Wonderful Bessie had a hiccup about two weeks ago – she overheated severely and I had this brown disgusting sludge coming out of the coolant area and the transmission fluid was low – call the mechanic, estimated costs of repairs, $380.00, YIKES! Wait until Friday when we get paid, ok the repairs – he replaces the radiator and water pump – low and behold he also tells me that he did something to the transmission “so I wouldn’t have problems going forward” I’m thinking ok cool, another $30.00 he needs to for what he did (without permission mind you).

See the Original Post About the Van

What is it with Cars/Vans and Hemorrhaging Money? As if Stressing Over a Mod Isn’t Enough…Let’s Add this to It!

So here’s what I posted on Facebook:

From 09/12/14

“Well she’s all fixed, but the mechanic flushed the transmission fluid and that added another $30.00 to the bottom line, $410.00 – he wants to check her again on Sunday to ensure that the transmission is holding onto the fluid – there’s no leak, but he wants to make sure it’s holding on…while I am happy it’s fixed, wish he’d have checked with me first.”

“Might have spoke too soon…the transmission fluid is causing her to do some shaking when shifting to 1st gear…ugh he’s coming back tonight to get his $30, and to look at this issue”

From 09/13/14

“Well where are we? Ok well the mechanic picked her up again this morning, he’s going to re-flush the tranny fluid and add some stop-gap measure to get me through the week while trying to clean out the filter. He said the filter most likely needs replacing, but this thing he’s going to do should get me through the week – if she starts shaking again he said to take it slow and get home, call him and he’d look at it…ugh…if the tranny goes on Bessie I am royally F&CKED!”

“the whole Bessie is running fine, no problems, turn back into the neighborhood and wouldn’t you know it, the Shaking begins AGAIN…she’s just hemorrhaging money right now…”

From 09/14/14

“Ok back from our outing…Bessie did good en route to Wal-Mart, a 10-min ride to the Junction, we did our shopping, got 2/3 of the way home before she starting “jumping” when shifting gears…made it home, but my stomach drops every single time it “jumps”…ugh not sure what to think, the mechanic told me that it’d be ok for my trek back and forth to work this week…I don’t know how much I trust that…we’ll see.”

From 09/16/14

“Ok just braved the roads w/Bessie for a quick Target/PetsMart run (prescription and crickets for Smaug) and she did good, no overheating (which shouldn’t happen anyways) and no “lurching” when shifting…WTF?!?! Bryan’s coming over tomorrow to check it out anyways and show me a few things about basic car care”

From 09/17/14

“Friend came over showed me some of the ins and outs of Bessie’s engine and fluid compartments – took me to Auto Zone and we purchased some Transmission Fluid (she was really low) and some Anti-Freeze (she was nearly empty) came home put it all in and ran the engine for a bit and she held the tranny fluid well, he had me shift the gears to help get any “air pockets” out and then he added some power steering fluid and that should do it he said. Crossing my fingers it worked, we’ll see!”

Today, 09/29/14, Two Weeks+ Post Repairs

“Ugh Monday morning…traffic at Myrtle Grove this morning caused Bessie to get HOT again…she cooled down during the ride to work, but all that stop-go-wait trying to get out of the parking lot was heinous on her! I don’t get it! New Radiator, New Water Pump, the Right Coolant and yet STILL gets hot quicker than she should?!?!? I am out of Money and Out of Ideas! Soo not how I wanted to start my Monday…here’s hoping the rest of the day runs smoother!”

“Seriously did the Finance company for my Van just call my WORK#?!?!?! I was in with my boss and they left a message, yeah I called them back and told them to remove that # IMMEDIATELY from their Database, they are NOT Ever to call me @ work! GRRR!!!”

Further Post about the above:

“Alright so those ARSEHOLES just called me back on my cell as I indicated, they THINK I am past due 24-Days = $225.00 and are threatening to repo the van if I don’t pay that soon…WTF?!?! Money don’t grow on trees guys, I explained that to him, but as per usual they are trained to not listen and only respond to what they want to hear…yes sir I’ll sell my oldest to pay you! Nevermind it’s illegal, nevermind that I’ll go to jail…yeah not to politely told him to f*ck off and hung up on him…where in the world am I going to dig that money up from? Shit Bessie needs more repairs and I’m past due…F*CK F*CK F*CK!! He’s like “If you can’t afford the vehicle we can take if off your hands and it won’t be an issue” TO which I was like “um yeah you’ll just sell it @ auction for less than I owe and stick me with the balance due” and he had the BALLS to say to me “well then maybe you can afford it then.” Ugh why are car finance people like flies in your ears, buzzing every chance they get?!?! Lovitt’s would never have harrassed me as much as these jack-offs! But no they sold the loan and now I have these assholes in my ears!”

Over the last almost four years I’ve held the same job…day in and day out the same thing…my daily breakdown looks a bit like this:

  • Come into work
  • Boot up Computer
  • While computer ‘wakes up’ – make breakfast
  • Return to desk with breakfast, log into work systems, peruse through emails that arrived over night, flag items requiring my attention for follow-up
  • Eat Breakfast – while eating check personal email, check in with MyFitnessPal and Facebook
  • Open up report I manage – filter for Submitted Items
  • Open up System email box, using emails check against report for anything that’s been approved – marking the Submitted to Approved when checked
  • Remaining Submitted Items are then checked against client system for PM Approval
  • Go through daily tasks completing steps for unfinished items from previous day
  • Go through daily calendar reminders for unfinished items for previous day
  • Noon = Lunch
  • Mon-Tues I key in items from Report to Client system
  • Wed I check for Approved Items off of Another Report, I then check for status in our system, and then I compare this report against our system for items not completed the previous week that would now be completed; if items have not been completed yet I send emails to the field team requesting completion, if one has been done for a personal item I ask the employee for payment status; if it’s on an expense report and not completed I flag it for follow-up the following week.
  • Thurs I run a submitted-unpaid report – what this is is a report that shows all timecards/expenses added to our system but not completed by the field team; if items from the previous week still are not completed I’ll send an email to the employee requesting status of completion.
  • Friday is completion of anything not done Mon – Thurs

Every day – Every week is the same.

Throw in there sometimes I answer the same friggin 10 questions over and over again

  • I send email requesting status of an expense report/timecard that is showing in our system as pending – employee comes back with “I sent it in, I don’t understand why it hasn’t been approved” or “I sent it in and it was approved by my Service Manager” – when I tell them I was looking at the item at the SAME time I was composing the message they have no response
  • Or the employee’s expense report is missing something and our payroll team short pays the expense report creating an addendum; I’ll send the employee an email requesting they follow the steps (CLEARLY OUTLINED IN AN INSTRUCTION KIT ALSO SENT OVER AT THE SAME TIME) to reopen the expense report and send it back in – the employee will come back to me with “I resent the missing receipts in, I don’t understand why this addendum was generated” I’ll ask them if they FIRST followed my instructions and I’ll get one of two answers “No” meaning he’s admitting he failed to read my email; or “What instructions?” meaning he’s admitting he perused my email but failed to open the attachment
  • Or they won’t allow the CC Transactions to filter to our system and expense them preemptively – thus creating MORE work because they were impatient…when asked about this they act like confused monkey’s – it’s frustrating…

I could go on, but I won’t…in the meantime of dealing with all of the above stupidity I STILL do not receive paid time off and benefits – and over the last almost four years that has equated to 289.25 hours or $4,338.75 of loss pay! (pre-tax pay)…I swear to GAWD this money could have meant so much to us and kept us in line financially…

All of the above + a total lack of respect by my manager I have loss all desire to be here…

So where does that leave me?

Time to find a new job…

Which in my market is damn near impossible for someone of my experience level – God forbid I demand to make more than minimum wage for work that some employer’s see as necessary but don’t see fit to pay well…I don’t know how companies get by without their administrative staff, I really don’t.  But I digress.  So therefore, trying to find a job right now is proving difficult, but I am looking and there’s several criteria that needs to be met:

  • Minimum $16 – $20.00/hr pay
  • Next level management/supervisory level job
  • Benefits/Paid Time Off

Something I would like is Flexibility – having two children with ADHD and one with Oppositional Defiance means my need to be out of the office for Dr’s and therapy appointment’s is higher than normal…and I need to be able to go without justifying them.  So I’m not applying for every job I remotely qualify for…it’s only been a handful thus far, but it’s time for more income.

Ok rant over!  Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Here we are, 14-Days Post Wreck and Everything is moving along at a good pace – albeit there has been a lot of ups and downs we did manage to get most everything resolved; the medical side of it is still pending, but well the collision portion is done, we received our settlement check and off we went to get ourselves a new vehicle.  Sadly, we had to go through one of those Buy-Here, Pay-Here Lots where they self-finance (which’ll mean HUGE trouble if we miss a payment, they put a GPS Device on the van to know where it’s at so they can snatch it as needed…WONFERFRIGGINFUL)…so here’s the deal, we took the $1,279.63 the insurance gave us and added some of our own funding for a down payment of $1,750.00 on a 2005 Chevrolet Venture with 108,000 miles on it.

New Ride 1 New Ride 2 New Ride 3

It’s very roomy on the inside and I am still getting used to having something so big – there’s three rows of seats, both of the back two sets can split into two separate chairs which’ll come in handy when we travel to Maryland in April and then to Camporee!  There’s TONS of Room for our luggage, our dogs, us and a bunch of our stuff!

Initially we went to the Kia Dealership and while we were approved for a loan through Capital One, they wanted verification we were in the process of doing a modification on our loan (which we aren’t) so we had to walk away – probably a good thing – and off to Lovitt’s Auto where we initially looked at a 2002 Dodge Caravan similar to Trusty Rusty, but I noticed a grinding noise in the steering column and the brakes so then we noticed the above vehicle sitting next to it and they agreed to a lower down payment so we could get into the above! I am happy – albeit worried about making sure we can make the monthly payment, $150.00/bi-weekly or $300.00/month….as we’ve had snags before where we couldn’t and thankfully our loan company let us make up the payments later…this place not so much…

So the next step is to find out where we’re at with the Medical Stuff and a possible settlement with that!

I love Fall, I absolutely love this time of year, the crispness in the air, the beginnings of wearing sweaters, longer sleeves, jeans, boots, and the changing feel of the air.  Of course right along with that comes the busiest time of year for our finances, meaning we will be spending a little more than usual between now and New Year’s Eve, what with

– Halloween (Costumes x 2, Pumpkins x 2, and a Carving Kit x 1) – thankfully I have enough in my savings jar to cover the cost of these! So yeah!!

– Thanksgiving Dinner – we are playing host this year to two (2) Marines from one of the surrounding bases, so my cost for dinner will escalate slightly from previous years, though the last two years my company has provided us with a $25 Wal-Mart Gift Card to help Offset the cost of Thanksgiving Dinner – crossing my fingers they do this again!  We’ll need it!

– My Daughter’s B-Day – the poor child’s birthday is Christmas Eve – I am making her an afghan for her bed and I already have the pattern in my head for this one!

– Christmas (Stockings filled x 4, Presents for the kiddos, usually 1-2 gifts each, a gift for each parent x 4, GC’s or small gifts for my siblings x 2 +1 my brother in law, and one small something for my Uncle);  I am already more than 1/2 way completed in making my mother’s Christmas present, and will probably do something crocheted for someone else in the fam.

– And then Portrait prints of my kids for everyone – not to toot my own horn here, but I have some talent as a photographer and I am able to save $$ on the actual taking the pictures process by doing it myself, see:

Ashley 2013 Portrait Austin 2013 Portrait

So it’s just the prints and postage I have to pay for!

Alright with that said, our budget this week is pretty straight forward, our misc. spending was minimal at best and I have been consistently picking up some small amounts of overtime due to our Fall Outage Season, so yeah there! It’s not much, but hey it’s something!

So here we go:

 $24.71 Remaining from W/E 09/08/13  $514.09 Lara W/E 09/29/13 Salary, Pay Date 10/04
 $21.93 Amt. Spent  $251.99 Jimmy W/E 09/29/13 Salary
 $2.78 Avail. Starting  $766.08
 $7.27 PetsMart  $2.78 Avail. Starting
 $1.00 PetsMart  $766.08 Total Pay
$6.80 PetsMart  $768.86 Avail. For Bills
$2.21 KTC  $125.00 In From Savings for Mortgage
 $4.65 Amazon.com  $893.86
 $21.93

Yes $21.93 is a bit more than minimal as compared to previous weeks, but honestly not that terrible, we managed to stay right within our budget, while it would have been helpful to have that money roll into this week, we needed to feed Smaug, our Bearded Dragon, unfortunately buying Crickets in bulk just doesn’t work, they tend to die before one can feed them to him….he’s still a baby after all and doesn’t each much 😉  So that left very little in the account to start the week, but we were ok – I pulled the $125.00 back into checking from our savings account to pay the mortgage, and the below $400.00 I sent to them finished off our Sept. payment and paid part of October, so we’re right online with that….just still stressing about the car payment…UGH!

 $893.86
 $400.00 CitiMortgage
 $493.86
$70.00 Brigades Boys & Girls Club
 $423.86
 $200.00 Groceries
 $223.86
 $25.00 Jimmy’s Money
 $198.86
 $25.00 Cat & Dog Food
 $173.86
 $25.00 Dinner, 10/4
 $148.86
 $40.00 Gas
 $108.86
 $60.00 Car Repairs
 $48.86  $48.86
7%  $3.42
 $3.42  $45.44

So see we’re still ok – I paid Scott via a check the other day for our car repairs and that brings us even with him, and now I need to budget the cost of the inspection, $32.00 and registration, $28.00 ($60.00) total so that my car will be legal for another year at least…still hoping I can replace it with something reliable and for less per month – this means allocating a larger portion of our tax return to a down payment…oh well, it’ll be worth it if I can bring my monthly car payment down some!

 $893.86
 $400.00 Citi
 $493.86
 $5.00 OT Solutions
 $488.86
 $320.00 Cash for Week

 $108.86
$70.00  Brigades Boys & Girls Club
 $38.86
 $3.42  Merrill Transfer
 $35.44

I am not 110% comfortable quite yet with the budget, but I can breathe a sigh of relief that the mortgage is somewhat current!

Alrighty ya’ll, that is all for this week! Enjoy your Week – and until Next Time!

I am SOOOOO Excited our Grant from my hubby’s employers’ Employee Assistance Foundation’ came through, they overnight Fed-Ex’d the check to his store and we were able to deposit the day after it was approved! Check cleared by Friday of last week and the payment was made to Citi the same day!  This payment brought us current through Sept. 1 with a balance of $232.42 (all late fees)!!! We are soo happy and thrilled all at the same time!

On the same day I received word that Ashley’s home Troop for Girl Scouts changed their meeting time to evenings so we can now return her original troop! She is very excited as am I! This troop is where it all got started and how she got rolling with Girl Scouts, this is awesome news! So off we went to Teacher’s Aid over the weekend and got her Brownie Sash (something I was holding off on getting last year as the troop she was with last year didn’t really do any work towards patches and such), her Troop Numbers, Council ID and a book, all in all I spent $23.00 and some change – all from cash I had pulled out Friday.

Speaking of, we came in WAY under budget on just about everything over the weekend – I still had about $15.00 cash left over from last week that I used to get cat and dragon food on Friday evening, Nixon still had a brand new bag of food so I didn’t need to get him anything.  So that put the $25.00 I budgeted for Cat/Dog food back into General use Circulation –  and I used that to buy Ashley’s Girl Scout stuff!

I will say this though, Jimmy’s being an employee where he is he managed to practically rob them blind when it came to purchasing his Dragon a new home! He  had some funds left over on a GC his Mom gave him for his B-Day, and he won a $25.00 store GC through a sales contest – combined he was able to get a new cage and lid w/his discount for less than $35.00! Like I said he practically robbed them blind, before the GC’s and his discount it was $53.00 and some change! WHAT?!?!?!  He made out like a Mad Man!

So here we are – Tuesday of this Week and we’re holding steady! I have some math to do with regards to figuring out how to pay the Mortgage payment in Full by the 15th of Sept. but that isn’t such a bad thing!

Well here we go:

 $72.03 Remaining from W/E 08/11/13  $517.72 Lara W/E 08/18/13 Salary
 $92.38 Amt. Spent  $260.39 Jimmy W/E 08/18/13 Salary
 $(20.35) Avail. Starting  $778.11
 $5.12 PetsMart  $(20.35) Avail. Starting
 $4.42 KTC  $778.11 Total Pay
$33.12 Hat World  $757.76 Avail. For Bills
$31.80 Harris Teeter  $315.00 In from Merrill for Jimm’s B-Day/Return of Repair Funds

 $3.17 Auntie Anne’s  $6,072.76
 $3.00 PetsMart  $10.41 Adj.
 $92.38  $6,062.35

I may have overdone things just slightly for Jimmy’s B-Day, but he’s worth it! I pulled funds in ($65.00) from our Merrill Account to cover the cost of his Gifts and Dinner!

Alright the breakdown:

 $6,062.35
$70.00 Brigades Boys & Girls Club
 $5,992.35

And now with the lump sum Cash Withdrawal:

 $6,062.35
$70.00 Brigades Boys & Girls Club
 $5,992.35
 $21.39 Blockbuster.com, Auto-Draft 8/23

 $416.49
 $250.00 Car Repairs
 $166.49
 $10.00 Pending OT Sltns Checks
 $156.49

What is bothering me most here is that I’ve written (2) checks to OT Solutions (Austin’s OT Team) and the owner has YET to deposit them so they can clear – if they don’t clear within the week I may put a stop payment on them…it’s pathetic really, the deposits were written up on the 15th, then they went out of town and didn’t deposit the funds before leaving, um WHAT?!?! Are you friggin serious???  The office manager said they were back in the office yesterday so I hope they finally deposited them…UGH!

Lesson Learned: NO MORE Checks to OT Solutions!

With the $156.49 left over I am seriously concerned we’ve forgotten something…but what I have NO CLUE! I am meticulous about our checkbook and tracking/paying the bills…so I have no clue, there’s nothing pending in the auto-draft bills to be paid…we shall see though!

Alright that’s all from me this Week! Until next time all!

Hope the 1st Days of School go well for everyone going!
